MoveOn.org to supporters: Send us money and we’ll stop spamming your inbox…or how do you get rid of whores? Pay them
In the final days before the midterm elections, the fundraisers at MoveOn.org have a proposition for members: Give us five bucks now and we’ll stop sending you e-mails asking for money.
The liberal advocacy group sent a plea to donors over the weekend warning them that support in key elections was “slipping” and that the organization would rather work to keep Democrats in office than strategize about how to raise money.
“With 9 days to go, we still haven’t raised all the funds we need for our big election plan,” the Oct. 24 e-mail read. “So, we’ll make you a deal: If you chip in $5 today, we’ll stop asking you for money for the rest of the election and focus on stopping the takeover. Deal?”
The e-mail says they need the money to save “Progressive Heroes,” like Democratic Florida Rep. Alan Grayson and Democratic California Sen. Barbara Boxer, and to expose “the corporate money behind the Republicans by airing hard-hitting ads.” (MoveOn.org’s political action committee discloses donors who give more than $200.)
