An Emirati father brutally tortured his eight-year-old daughter to death and injured her seven-year-old sister because he wanted to exorcise jinn from their bodies, Gulf News learnt yesterday.
The 29-year-old father, Hamad S., thought jinn possessed his daughters so he tortured them more because he was provoked every time the girls laughed when he beat them, said a police lieutenant during prosecution questioning. Prosecutors charged Hamad and his 27-year-old Emirati girlfriend, Al Onoud A., with illegally grounding the two daughters in a flat and torturing eight-year-old Wudeema to death and injuring seven-year-old Meera. The latter sustained 10 per cent permanent disability.
Gulf News obtained a copy of the charges, in which the lieutenant cited Hamad alleging that he used excessive beating and torturing to exorcise the jinn from his daughters’ bodies.
Hamad and Al Onoud entered their pleas before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday.
“I did not torture Wudeema to death. I took Meera to Rashid Hospital to treat her broken arm… I didn’t torture her. I did not confine them, but I used to take them out,” Hamad told Presiding Judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi yesterday.
Al Onoud surprised the crammed court when she contended: “Hamad did not do anything to the girls. I beat and tortured them with hot water, electric wire, an iron… I electrocuted them with the taser gun.”
These people live in the stone ages mentally. It’s hard to fathom how people like this slime around in this day and age. It’d be one thing if this was just some nutjob but this is like the fourth or fifth ‘Jinn’ story I’ve posted so far this year with several more having to do with people being executed by their governments for being witches or sorcerers.
Guess I’ll sit back and wait for the apologists to start swearing and screaming to me about how it’s their culture and I shouldn’t judge it.
A Hallandale Beach lifeguard was fired after he said he left his post to rescue a man drowning outside the zone he was hired to patrol.
Lifeguard Tomas Lopez told NBC 6 that on Monday he was alerted by beachgoers that a man was struggling in the water, which was part of unguarded territory outside the lifeguard zone. He said he raced out to try and help him. A sign warning beachgoers to swim at their own risk separates the two zones.
"I was on stand, and guests came up to me and told me there was someone drowning, that people were screaming and so I started running in the direction,” he said.
Now, two other lifeguards say they have also been fired over failing to agree with the company policy, and four others say they have quit in protest.
The president of the company Jeff Ellis Management, Jeff Ellis, could only confirm that one employee was let go, and as many as three have resigned, said Hallandale Beach spokesman Peter Dobens.
Good to know that the city (or whoever employs the lifeguards) are willing to allow people to simply drown as long as the lifeguards follow policy. Morons.
With the Supreme Court giving President Obama’s new health care law a green light, federal and state officials are turning to implementation of the law — a lengthy and massive undertaking still in its early stages, but already costing money and expanding the government.
The Health and Human Services Department “was given a billion dollars implementation money,” Republican Rep. Denny Rehberg of Montana said. “That money is gone already on additional bureaucrats and IT programs, computerization for the implementation.”
“Oh boy,” Stan Dorn of the Urban Institute said. “HHS has a huge amount of work to do and the states do, too. There will be new health insurance marketplaces in every state in the country, places you can go online, compare health plans.”
The IRS, Health and Human Services and many other agencies will now write thousands of pages of regulations — an effort well under way:
“There’s already 13,000 pages of regulations, and they’re not even done yet,” Rehberg said.
“It’s a delegation of extensive authority from Congress to the Department of Health and Human Services and a lot of boards and commissions and bureaus throughout the bureaucracy,” Matt Spalding of the Heritage Foundation said. “We counted about 180 or so.”
There has been much focus on the mandate that all Americans obtain health insurance, but analysts say that’s just a small part of the law — covering only a few pages out of the law’s 2700.
Mitt Romney’s wife says her husband is thinking about picking a woman to be on his ticket this fall.
Ann Romney says in an interview, “We’ve been looking at that and I love that option as well.”
She tells CBS News she thinks the person selected for the No. 2 spot should be “someone that obviously can do the job but will be able to carry through with some of the other responsibilities.”
The former Massachusetts governor, who was joined by his wife for the interview, declined to describe the status of the vice presidential search, saying “that’s something I’m keeping close with my team.”
If it’s true that Mitt is actually considering a female VP, the only woman I know of that’s been considered is Condoleezza Rice. I’d be okay with that. Of course, that doesn’t mean there isn’t some other female in the shadows somewhere.

The flotilla organizers are trying to provoke a violent confrontation. If they were sincerely concerned about humanitarian aid for Gazans, they would deliver it through official Israeli entry points. Israel has repeatedly offered to deliver goods after officially inspecting them for weapons. The organizers have refused to comply. Instead, they hope their provocative, hostile breach of the blockade will compel Israel to use force and make Israel look like an aggressor.
A Michigan congressman is being attacked by his opponents for not being “black” enough to represent the state’s newly redrawn 14th district, which includes Detroit, CBS Detroit reports.
Rep. Hansen Clarke (D-Mich.) responded Wednesday to allegations that he is only posing as a black man in order to gain votes, saying racial divides are tearing Detroit apart and are partly to blame for the state of the city’s economy.
Clarke is running against two black women, Mary Waters and Brenda Lawrence, and two white men, state Rep. Gary Peters and Bob Costello. After participating in one debate this election cycle, he says won’t do any more because the racial rhetoric is too intense.
For instance, a racially charged robocall was also reportedly released in the district this week claiming that Clarke was “not black.” Furthermore, Waters previously told the Detroit Free Press she’s the only black resident of Detroit in the race.
A distraught Clarke spoke with Talk Radio 1270 host Charlie Langton and discussed the influence of race in the election.
“Who really gives a care right now?” Clarke told Langton. “My opponents are so desperate they can’t attack me based on what we’re doing, based on my record, so they’re going after my poor deceased parents who have been dead for 30 years.”
Although Clarke’s mother is listed as “white” on her birth certificate, he identifies himself as “multiracial” with a light-skinned black mother and Indian father.
Back in the real world, evidence that the Brotherhood is just another hostile Islamist group bent on achieving world domination through any means possible is overwhelming. Here are just three examples that recently surfaced, all missed by the Western media, and all exposing the Brotherhood as hostile to “infidels” (non-Muslims) in general, hostile to the Christians in their midst (the Copts) in particular, and on record calling on Muslims to lie and cheat during elections to empower Sharia:
Anti-Infidel: At a major conference supporting Muhammad Morsi—standing on a platform with a big picture of Morsi smiling behind him and with any number of leading Brotherhood figures, including Khairat el-Shater, sitting alongside—a sheikh went on a harangue, quoting Koran 9:12, a jihadi favorite, to portray all those Egyptians who do not vote for Morsi—the other half of Egypt, the secularists and Copts who voted for Shafiq—as “resisters of the Sharia of Allah,” and “infidel leaders” whom true Muslims must “fight” and subjugate.
The video of this sheikh was shown on the talk show of Egyptian commentator Hala Sarhan, who proceeded to exclaim “This is unbelievable! How is this talk related to the campaign of Morsi?!” A guest on her show correctly elaborated: “Note his [the sheikh’s] use of the word ‘fight’—’fight the infidel leaders’ [Koran 9:12]; this is open incitement to commit violence against anyone who disagrees with them…. How can such a radical sheikh speak such words, even as [Brotherhood leaders like] Khairat el-Shater just sit there?” Nor did the Brotherhood denounce or distance itself from this sheikh’s calls to jihad and takfir.
Anti-Christian: It is precisely because of these sporadic outbursts of anti-infidel rhetoric that it is not farfetched to believe that Morsi himself, as some maintain, earlier boasted that he would “achieve the Islamic conquest (fath) of Egypt for the second time, and make all Christians convert to Islam, or else pay the jizya.”
Speaking of the minority Christian Copts of Egypt, in an article titled “The Muslim Brotherhood Asks Why Christians Fear Them?!” secularist writer Khaled Montasser, examining the Brotherhood’s own official documents and fatwas, shows exactly why. According to Montasser, in issue #56 of the Brotherhood journal The Call (al-da’wa), published in December 1980, prominent Brotherhood figure Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah al-Khatib decreed several anti-Christian measures, including the destruction of churches and the prevention of burying unclean Christian “infidels” anywhere near Muslim graves. Once again, this view was never retracted by the Brotherhood. As Montasser concludes, “After such fatwas, Dr. Morsi and his Brotherhood colleagues can ask and wonder—”Why are the Copts afraid?!”
Lying, Stealing, and Cheating to Victory: In a recent article titled “The Islamist Group’s Hidden Intentions,” appearing in Watani, author Youssef Sidhom exposes a document “which carries the logos of both the Muslim Brotherhood and its political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party.” Written by Khairat el-Shater, the Deputy to the Supreme Guide, and addressed “to all the Brotherhood branches in the governorates,” the memo calls on Muslims to cheat, block votes, and “resort to any method that can change the vote” to ensure that Morsi wins, which, of course, he just did—amidst many accusations of electoral fraud. El-Shater concluded his memo by saying, “You must understand, brothers, that our interest lies wherever there is the Sharia of Allah, and this can only be by preserving the [MB] group and preserving Islam.”
In short, the Muslim Brotherhood has not changed; only Western opinion of it has. As it was since its founding in 1928, the group is committed to empowering and spreading Sharia law—a law that preaches hate for non-Muslim “infidels,” especially Islam’s historic nemesis, Christianity, and allows anything, from lying to cheating, to make Islam supreme. Now that the Brotherhood has finally achieved power, the world can prepare to see such aspects on a grand scale.
One-percenters in the Hamptons, a predominately Democrat area in both citizenry and representation, are furious over an influx of immigrants they claim are tainting their area. Some residents are angry enough to start a campaign to stop the relocation of new residents who don’t “fit” the Hamptons’s image.
The small town of East Hampton has gained a reputation as the playground for New York’s well-heeled elite, a place to spend the idle summer months in their million-dollar homes.
But some of its wealthy residents are upset at an influx of less well-heeled workers who they say are lowering the quality of life and diminishing the appearance of the quaint Long Island town.
A campaign group is focusing on the Springs area of East Hampton, dubbing itself ‘Unoccupy Springs’ and calling for an end to multiple families of low-wage workers living under one roof.
Democrats eschew enforcing immigration laws, as seen with the Obama administration’s handling of Arizona’s law, upheld by SCOTUS. It does however seem that enforcement isn’t a concern until it affects them personally.
So, as long as those dirty migrants stay away from those well-heeled Democrats, they can flood over the border like migrating sardines but as soon as they have the gall to enter Liberal Land-someone had better enforce those immigration laws, by god!
Enter California, a border state that is home to the largest number of illegal immigrants, most of whom are Hispanic, and is considerably more liberal than its neighbor Arizona.
A bill currently working its way through the California legislature would block local law enforcement from referring a detainee to immigration officials for deportation unless that person has been convicted of a violent or serious felony.
"California cannot afford to become another Arizona," said California Assembly member Tom Ammiano, the bill’s sponsor. One of the bill’s sponsors, the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, calls the effort the "anti-Arizona."
Coalition of African American Pastors demanded on Monday that President Obama meet with the group to address his stance on same-sex marriage. So far, the White House has refused to acknowledge the group’s request but leaders say they plan to “turn up the heat” by asking black Christians to sit on the sidelines for the time being.
“We have requested a meeting with President Obama and until he meets with us, we are going to ask black Christians to withhold their support until he personally hears our concerns,” the group’s spokesperson, the Rev. Bill Owens, told The Christian Post on Tuesday after Monday’s press conference in Nashville.
“More than anything, this is an issue of biblical principles and President Obama is carrying our nation down a dangerous road. Many African Americans were once proud of our president but now many are ashamed of his actions.”
Owens said the group hasn’t received a response from the White House and they are growing frustrated with each passing day.
“We can’t compete with the Hollywood folks who are raising the big bucks for the president,” Owens said. “But it was black folks who rallied around him in 2008 and for him to ignore our request with a group of clergy who represents tens of thousands of black Christians of many denominations is an insult.”
“Already, I’ve seen the payoff from these investments… Humming with new workers … rolling up their sleeves to help America win the race for the clean energy economy.”—Barack Obama in reference to his dumping taxpayer dollars into Abound Solar….which promptly went bankrupt and shut its doors.
The first thing I’d do with a 9mm would be to walk into my local Republican headquarters and shout, “I am in fear for my life and I am standing my ground!”
Hey, moron. You can’t “stand your ground’ if you’re trespassing on someone else’s property.
I thought you hippy liberal-types were peaceful. oh right….that’s only if everyone agrees with everything you have to say. Otherwise they all deserve to be murdered. How tolerant and open-minded of you.
I think when liberals thin of Romney strapping his dog to the roof, They probably are thinking the dog was tied down with Bungee cord, or something to the roof rack. LMAO.
It wouldn’t surprise me. Before long, the new story will be that Obama didn’t eat a dog willingly-Romney tied him down and shoveled the mutt down his throat like the evil racist bastard he is….oh…and the dog he forced Obama to swallow was carried there after being tied to a donkey’s ass and driven for hours in the Indonesian sun…or something.
After reviewing the list, I agreed with all of them except one.
At number 54, they have listed-Multiculturalism??
Multiculturalism? As American? Multiculturalism is one of the main reasons that societies over the centuries have fallen apart. While a nice, touchy-feely idea, it does not work in practice. When people adhere to cultures other than the one of their country, then that erodes the identity of that country and will eventually lead to it’s downfall.
Anyone hear of the ‘Great Melting Pot’? There was a reason it was called that and not the ‘Big Bowl Everyone Hangs Out In’.
I’d like to write a rebuttal to a post by TalkStraight?!
While everyone knows I am no fan of forced multiculturalism, the multiculturalism of America is far different than the multiculturalism of any other country. It stems purely on the fact that America is, yes, a nation of immigrants. You know, the whole idea of being able to have pizza, then Chinese food, then Thai food, on one street is pretty cool. The multiculturalism that has made America strong, and the best country on Earth, is the multiculturalism which stems from individuals wishing to integrate themselves in to society, yet still holding on to the identity of where they were from. America was never a purely homogenous country to begin with—I’m sure you know about the fact that certain states retained the right to have state-sponsored churches for different denominations, for instance. America is unlike all other nations with its use of multiculturalism because America is by its nature multicultural—nothing ever forced America to become multicultural.
I can see all the nutters who follow CK and I going like this over the prospect of us disagreeing on something:
It was written on parchment! The US founding documents aren’t marijuana propaganda, holy fuck.
And I’m very pro-decriminalization, don’t get me wrong. I really don’t know a lot of pro drug people who even push…
None of that says anything about the drafts. Everyone knows the final originals were written on parchment, but there’s no way it was also drafted on parchment: that stuff is expensive and was used for documents that needed to last.
So does anyone have an actual source as to the type of paper used for the drafts, not just a claim that’s been passed around? It could have been hemp, but it also might not have been.
The drafts were written on hemp. So it is partially true. There are some drafts I hear that still exist. All paper in the colonies was mainly hemp. The most abundant source at the time as it was cheaper than tree pulp paper. Benjamin Franklin used only hemp in his printing company.
The paper used by Thomas Jefferson in writing the “First Ideas” of the Virginia Constitution in 1776 measures 7 ¾” x 12 ¾” and is watermarked “L G V” This paper is of Dutch origin and was made by one of three prominent papermakers of the period: Lubertus van Gerrevink of Egmond a/d Hoef, North Holland Lucas van Gerrevink of Alkmaar, or L. van Groot (or Grooten).
Thomas Jefferson’s “Rough Draft” of the Declaration of Independence is written on four pages of Dutch paper, each measuring 7 7/8” x 12 3/8”. This document was written on “WRYHEYT ” paper which bears the watermark lettering ‘PRO PATRIA EIUSQUE LIBERTATE” in an oval border surrounding a lion, capped by a crown. This watermark was commonly used by Dutch papermakers and may have been from one of a dozen different paper mills.
Thomas Jefferson’s original Rough Draft of the Declaration is now in the Jefferson Papers collection at the Library of Congress. According to the Library of Congress, analysis by paper conservators has determined that the paper is mostly likely Dutch in origin. While hemp was commonly used to make paper in Southern Europe during this time, the Dutch were much more likely to use flax or linen rags.
The Declaration, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights are currently housed in the National Archives.
All three are written on parchment, not hemp paper.
Parchment is treated animal skin, typically sheepskin. The Declaration was inked with iron gall ink. The Jet Propulsion Laboratory was commissioned to create a system to monitor the physical status of all three. The Charters of Freedom Monitoring System took digital photos of each sheet of parchment in 1987, each document divided into one-inch squares. Over time, the photos are retaken and compared to the original to look for signs of deterioration. Before the charters were recently reencased for display, a small tear in the Declaration was repaired by adding Japanese paper to the gap. This is the only paper in any of the documents. It is, then, inaccurate to say that any of these documents was written on hemp.
The original was engrossed on parchment which is an animal skin specially treated with lime and stretched to create a strong, long-lasting writing support. The printed version is on paper and was read aloud from town squares throughout the colonies, so that those who could not read would receive the news about intended separation from England.
Me:Then why is it I have to put the seat down when I am done? Seriously if Men ran this world like you think, springs would be installed in all toilet seats to automatically lift after done taking a numero dos.
Egypt’s new president, Mohamed Morsi: “The Koran is our constitution. Jihad is our path. And death for the sake of Allah is our most lofty aspiration….This nation will enjoy blessing and revival only through Islamic Shariah.”
Remember, this is the guy Obama personally called to congratulate on winning the Egyptian election.
Thanks a lot, Obama. It’s good to know we can always count on you to support radical Muslims when they want to overthrow their governments.
why does the tomb have a 24 hour guard? Seriously? But regardless I saw the changing of the guards. It's pretty awesome.
The Tomb of the Unknowns (or as more commonly known as the Unknown Soldier) is a monument dedicated to American service members who have died without their remains being identified. The Unknown Soldiers laid to rest at the Tomb represent all missing and unknown service members who made the ultimate sacrifice – they not only gave their lives, but also their identities to protect our freedoms.
The Army soldiers who guard it do so in order to guard the ground dedicated to those lost in battle and have sworn an oath to do so until all remains of missing or unidentified service members are returned.
The soldiers who guard the Tomb take their role very seriously. For example:
A few years ago, Hurricane Isabel came through this area and tore hell out of everything. There were thousands of trees down, power outages, traffic signals out, roads filled with downed limbs and “gear adrift” debris. There was flooding and the place looked like it had been the impact area of an off-shore bombardment.
The Regimental Commander of the U.S. Third Infantry sent word to the nighttime Sentry Detail to secure the post and seek shelter from the high winds, to ensure their personal safety.
They disobeyed the order!
During winds that turned over vehicles and turned debris into projectiles, the 21 measured step continued.
One soldier said “I’ve got buddies getting shot at in Iraq who would kick my butt if word got to them that we let them down. I sure as hell have no intention of spending my Army career being known as the damned idiot who couldn’t stand a little light breeze and shirked his duty.”
Then he said something in response to a female reporter’s question regarding silly purposeless personal risk… “I wouldn’t expect you to understand. It’s an enlisted man’s thing.”
In a time in our nation’s history when spin and total b.s. seem to have become the accepted coin-of-the-realm, there beat hearts - the enlisted hearts we all know and are so damn proud to be a part of - that fully understand that devotion to duty is not a part-time occupation.
While we slept, we were represented by some damn fine men who fully understood their post orders and proudly went about their assigned responsibilities unseen, unrecognized and in the finest tradition of the American Enlisted Man.
Folks, there’s hope. The spirit that George S. Patton, Chesty Puller and Jimmy Doolittle left us … survives.
On the ABC evening news, it was reported that, because of the dangers from Hurricane Isabel approaching Washington, DC, the military members assigned the duty of guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier were given permission to suspend the assignment.
They refused. “No way, Sir!”
Soaked to the skin, marching in the pelting rain of a tropical storm, they said that guarding the Tomb was not just an assignment; it was the highest honor that can be afforded to a service person.
So, yeah. While it may seem silly or unnecessary to have guards at a tomb 24/7, there is a reason and those that are tasked with that duty take that very seriously and thank God for that.
The world now knows that Mohammed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party became the first civilian elected president in Egypt’s long history on June 24. But this isn’t the only “first” that Morsi has brought to the Egyptian political landscape.
Morsi is the first Islamist to get to the presidential palace. He is the first Egyptian president with Mohammed as an actual first name—although Hosni Mubarak and Anwar Sadat injected “Mohammed” into their names for Islamic flavor.
Also, he is the first Egyptian president to hold a PhD degree, which he earned in engineering at the University of Southern California (USC). And he is the first president to win a competitive election, where Egyptians had–for the first time–the opportunity to choose from more than one candidate.
An additional “first” that has garnered attention from the West — especially among Americans — is that Morsi’s wife, as the First Lady, is also the first to wear an abaya, the traditional Islamic dress and full coverage hijab.
Her name is Najla Mahmoud. Born in Cairo in 1962, she is Mohammad Morsi’s first cousin… and married Morsi in 1979. The couple has four sons and a daughter.
After three and a half years of Barack Obama the economy is in ruins. The regulations more oppressive. The government is more intrusive. And the future looks bleak.
Think of this – Just three and a half years ago– ** In President Bush’s last year in office, 2008, the deficit reached $459 billion. Today, for the third year in a row, the US deficit is over a trillion dollars (and Obama still says it’s Bush’s fault). This is after he promised to cut the deficit in half.
** Real GDP has risen 0.8% over the 13 quarters since the Great Recession began, compared to an average increase of 9.9% in past recoveries. It is the worst recovery on record.
